Grades 3-8 Fall Rec Field Hockey
Players entering 3rd through 8th Grade in the fall are eligible for the Stampede Fall Rec Field Hockey program. Players will be assigned to a team with other players in the same age range (3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, 7th/8th grade).
Practices
Rec practices start on or about August 1st and continue through the end of October or beginning of November each year. Practices are typically 1.5 to 2 hours long and are held once or twice per week. Rec practices focus on running, stick skills, learning positions, field hockey strategy, and team building.
Games
3rd-8th grade Fall recreational games are played on Sundays starting the Sunday after Labor Day. Stampede “Home” games will be played on turf or Bermuda grass fields at Howard County Parks or Howard County Public Schools. “Away” games require some travel (typically 45 minutes or less) as we play other teams from central Maryland. Optional opportunities to play in additional Tournaments may be offered to teams, but these come at a nominal additional cost to the players.
Equipment
Each player must provide a field hockey stick, shin guards, and a mouth guard. Players must bring a water bottle to all practices and games.
Uniform
Team uniforms consist of a Stampede jersey, shorts, and socks. The cost of the uniform is included in the registration fee.
Sibling Discount
Families registering more than one player in the 3rd-8th grade recreational league are eligible for a discounted registration fee for each additional sibling. The oldest child must be registered under “Oldest / Only Child” first, then for additional younger sibling(s), please select “Additional Sibling” when registering.
Play Healthy Policy
Players are not permitted to attend or participate in any practice or game if they are feeling ill, exhibiting symptoms of any illness, or have potentially been exposed to Covid-19. Stampede will abide by all public health regulations imposed by federal, state, or local authorities, even as these may change. Current health regulations may require limited attendance by spectators at games. Limits, if any, on spectator attendance at practices and games will be communicated by Stampede volunteers or your coach. Parents or guardians must agree to an injury and illness liability waiver in the Player Registration Agreement in order for players to participate in Stampede.
